It’s that time of year here on the Outer Banks. The winds have changed direction and the air is getting cooler. It is the time of year that locals love and more visitors are celebrating here with us at the Sea Ranch Resort. While you are here, there are some wonderful events to attend throughout November and December.
Outer Banks Veterans Concert

Join the Outer Banks Brewing station crew for a Thanksgiving beer mile. If you are 21 and you want to “beer, run, beer, run” on repeat with your friends, then this is the event for you. Prizes are given for the fastest female and male participants. Oh, and you are encouraged to wear costumes.
26th Annual Advice Turkey 5K

For over 25 years, this annual event has raised money for the Advice Turkey 5K Turkey Trot Fund that is managed by the Outer Banks Community Foundation. The race takes place in Duck and always has a great crowd. Whether you are a local or a visitor, this is a great way to celebrate the Outer Banks Community.

Yes, it’s that time of year again…..time to hang with Santa at Jockey’s Ridge! Another great OBX tradition involves getting your picture with Santa at Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockey’s Ridge. Right across the street from the sand dunes, you will be at the center of the holiday action. This event is popular with kids and families, so get there early!

Are you ready to see kites with lights that are 19-30 foot long soaring in the night sky? Come join your friends and family for this annual one-of-a-kind celebration. The kites will be flown on Jockey’s Ridge across the street from Kitty Hawk kites near the solar Christmas Tree displayed on top of the dunes. The tree is managed by the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, which is a non-profit dedicated to supporting Jockey’s Ridge. If there is such a thing as an “Outer Banks Christmas”, it would certainly include kites!

After you see Christmas Kites on Jockey’s Ridge, plan to stroll in a magical wonderland of lights at Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island. Winter Lights is a very popular annual event that is a must-do for any local or visitor. Great for all ages, you will get to walk the beautiful grounds that are artistically decorated with thousands of lights. You can watch an outdoor holiday movie or roast marshmallows over a fire as well. This event lasts a month, so get your tickets and get ready for the holidays!
