Plan for your OBX Labor Day Weekend 2017.

The Sea Ranch Resort invites you to rest and relax in late summer.

Late summer is a very special time on the Outer Banks. If you follow this blog, you will notice that we consider most times on the Outer Banks to be special. This is natural because the Outer Banks is a very dynamic place where each day, week and month is unique and has something memorable to offer (We posted an article last summer about the magic of late August last year which is worth a read).  As we head further into late summer our path leads to Labor Day Weekend. OBX Labor Day Weekend is a very popular weekend much like Memorial Day weekend, but has more of a relaxed feel overall as it rounds out a summer season that has often been very full.

Here are a few things to consider when getting ready for your Labor Day Weekend:

Beach Time: The weather is dynamic here on the OBX, but it can fantastic over Labor Day weekend. Sometimes it can feel like mid-summer, and sometimes you get that beautiful September weather where the temperatures are in the high 80’s, the sky is clear and the water is warm and blue. All of the same rules apply as with any other time – wear sunscreen, come prepared and be aware of the currents and ocean information.

Rest and Relaxation: OBX Labor Day weekend is a perfect time to rest and relax before the school year and fall season truly kicks in. The Outer Banks is still buzzing with activity, but it isn’t quite as crowded as July 4th weekend so there is more space to just hang out and read a book or unwind. The Sea Ranch Resort has oceanfront condos and rooms with balconies overlooking the beach which are perfect for watching the sunrise or reading the book you have been wanting read. However you choose to do it, use the beauty of our beach to inspire some much needed rest and relaxation.

September: OBX Labor Day weekend is actually in September, so perhaps you are actually using the weekend to BEGIN your vacation. This is an idea that is growing in popularity because September is singular in its ability to stun people with how amazing the weather and the ocean can be.

Getting Here: Although less busy than July 4th and a touch more mellow than Memorial Day, Labor Day can still bring the same traffic issues that any weekend in the summer can bring, so plan accordingly. There are a variety of tools and apps to help you get a handle on traffic such Google Maps, Waze, ViaMichelin and INRIX.
