Firework displays are scheduled as following:

  • Town of Kill Devil Hills at dusk on the Avalon Fishing Pier located at Mile Post 6, Virginia Dare Trail in Nags Head.
  • Town of Nags Head at 9:25 p.m. on the Nags Head Fishing Pier located at Mile Post 11.5, S. Virginia Dare Trail in Nags Head.
  • Fireworks over the Roanoke Sound presented by Town of Manteo at 9:30 p.m.
  • Avon Pier at 9:00 p.m. Located at 41001 Hwy 12, Avon, NC

Town of Duck 4th of July Parade will take place on Friday, July 3rd at 9 a.m.

4th Annual Sun Realty Firecracker 5k:  Old Glory Mile and Little Sparkler Fun Run.  All American family and community event in the spirit of American Independence! Presented by Outer Banks Runcations.

Killer Dunes 2 Mile & Fun Run Presented by the Outer Banks Running Club. Proceeds benefit Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, preserving, and enhancing Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Independence Day 1850 at the Island Farm.  Celebrate Independence Day 1850s style with Island Farm! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on their grassy lawn as they commemorate our nation’s birth with musket-fire, games and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.

July 4th Celebration with Music and Foreworks Roanoke Island Festival Park at 8 p.m. The United States Marine Corps 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band will begin their patriotic concert at 8 p.m. Gates are open at 6 p.m. Parking will be available at the Park until the lot is full and in downtown Manteo.

Manteo July 4th Celebration.  Activities start at 3:00 p.m. with music and family fun!  Bicycle decorating contest, apple pie baking contest, wacky tacky hat contest, live music.  Go early and stay for the fireworks after dark!

23rd Annual Independence Day Celebration

July 3rd Fireworks Display in Corolla. – What better way to celebrate America’s independence than with free live music and a spectacular fireworks show on the northern Outer Banks! The 23rd Annual Independence Day Celebration in Corolla offers an afternoon of fun family activities. The event features food vendors, a cornhole tournament, watermelon eating contest, and children’s games. Admission and parking are free; event starts at 5:00 p.m. with a fireworks display at dusk. Ocracoke Island

Ocracoke daytime celebration 

8 a.m. – 10 a.m. – Visit the Ocracoke Ponies at the Pony Pens. Meet the newest addition to the wild pony herd, “Hazelnut”!

9 a.m. –  Flag Raising Ceremony with Ocracoke Boy Scouts at the  Ocracoke School Circle,  Singing of National Anthem by Samantha Styron.

9:30 a.m- Noon – 39th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at the NPS Lifeguard Beach.

10 a.m. –2 p.m. – Classic Cars at Pony Island Motel Lawn.

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Ocracoke Lighthouse History Talk – Open for public viewing with island natives Dale and Chester. Limited parking. They suggest you walk or bike!

3 p.m. – Old Time Ocracoke Parade

Entrants should register by 2 p.m. on the 4th at the Ocracoke Station (gas station). Forms available for download at  www.wovv.org, after filled out, email them to Parade@wovv.org

Parade route starts at Ocracoke Oyster Company, left on Lighthouse Rd., right on Creek Rd., right on Silver Lak Dr., follow road around harbor to Parade’s end at NPS Parking Lot. Parade winners will be announced at 6 p.m. at the Community Square

5 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Stories with Donald Davis at Books to be Red yard. Bring a chair or blanket!

Ocracoke evening celebration 

6:00 p.m. National anthem, patriotic songs with the Ocracoke Summer Camp Singers, followed by Awards Presentation for Parade and Sand Sculpture Contest!

6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. – Traditional Ocracoke Square Dance at the Community Square.

Music by Molasses Creek, with Philip Howard as caller.

8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.  Dance Party with The Ocracoke Rockers at Community Square.  Please park at the NPS parking lot!
